Alpaca Farm Weaving

Great Group of Ladies Showing off their first weaving project.

This is an adventure unlike any other

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to a weaving class on an alpaca farm?

Dress comfortably and casually, like you would for a relaxed day outdoors. You’ll be using your hands throughout the class, so it’s best to leave rings, bracelets, and jewelry at home to keep things simple while you weave.

We recommend wearing outdoor-friendly footwear. Some guests enjoy removing their shoes to feel more grounded while weaving, while others prefer boots or sturdy shoes, especially in the pasture. Choose whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

Are dogs allowed?

We love animals, but we ask that you keep your pets at home. The alpacas and chickens are shy around dogs and we have a goat that is known to headbutt dogs. Tank, our official alpaca farm greeter, doesn't like to compete for love and attention.

Do I need experience to take a weaving class?

Not at all. Our weaving classes in Bluffdale, Utah are designed specifically for beginners. You don’t need any prior experience, we’ll guide you step-by-step from the moment you sit down at the loom.

Your loom will already be set up and ready to go, so you can focus on learning, creating, and enjoying the experience. By the end of class, most people are surprised by what they’re able to make on their very first try .I have a large selection of yarns, fibers and textures for your weaving class, but you are also welcome to bring your own.

What happens if weather is bad for outdoor activities?

If you have booked a weaving class and the weather  doesn't cooperate you can rebook or request a refund. Weaving in Utah is sometimes an adventure in weather!

Is there an age requirement

We love young visitors...however, our weaving classes are best suited for adults. We require participants to be at least 11 years of age. Our looms require weavers to be at least 4'9" tall in order to reach the pedals.

are There mobility or Height Requirements for participatnts?

Yes—because our classes use floor looms, we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience.

For the best experience, participants should:

  • Be ages 11 and up
  • Be approximately 4’9” or taller
  • Have use of their feet to operate the loom’s treadles
  • Be able to comfortably reach the loom to pass the shuttle and beat the threads

What does this mean?

  • Treadles: These are the foot pedals on the loom that lift and lower the warp threads. Using your feet lets your hands focus on weaving.
  • Beating: This is the process of pushing each row of yarn down tightly against the previous row. It’s what creates a strong, even weave in your fabric.

These guidelines simply ensure that everyone can reach, beat, and treadle comfortably so you can focus on enjoying the creative process.

If you’re unsure whether a class is a good fit for you, please reach out—we’re happy to help and make accommodations when possible.
